Our Mission - Occupying the Middle Ground

Ethical pharmaceutical products (prescription drugs), and dietary supplements represent the opposite extremes in dealing with personal health issues. There are, unfortunately, many drawbacks associated with each of these extremes, that offset the promised benefits. It is our simplistic, but informed, belief that there is a middle ground between these extremes, that offers the greatest value to the consumer.

Ethical Pharmaceutical Products

Ethical drug products are a core element of modern healthcare, often providing life-saving and life-enhancing options for seriously ill patients. Ethical pharmaceuticals undergo rigorous laboratory and clinical studies, and are manufactured under rigorous quality guidelines. The safety, efficacy, and quality of ethical drug products is assured by strict regulations enforced by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). The downside of ethical drug products is the extremely high cost of prescription drugs, and the gradual erosion of meaningful therapeutic effects. We are fortunate to have many high quality drugs that are effective in treating many critical illnesses, albeit at a very high cost. Hiding behind these valuable drugs are products that add very little to our therapeutic capabilities, but employ massive marketing programs to justify exorbitant consumer prices.

Dietary Supplements

Dietary supplements are loosely regulated by the FDA and FTC under the provisions of the "Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act" of 1994. Products that meet the definition of a "dietary supplement" can be marketed without proof of efficacy and without rigorous safety testing. In response to potency and purity concerns, FDA is in the process of establishing Good Manufacturing Practices that will govern the preparation. packing, and holding of dietary supplements. Unfortunately, a large segment of the dietary supplement industry takes advantage of the loose regulatory environment to market products that have no scientific basis for the intended uses, and are produced with minimum manufacturing controls. Taking a page from the big "Pharma" marketing strategy, a small percentage of the dietary supplement suppliers are marketing unproven esoteric substances at extremely high prices.

Ethical Alternative Products

In a move toward what will hopefully become the norm for dietary supplement suppliers, we have chosen to only offer products that have a substantial body of scientific and clinical studies that support product efficacy and safety. In addition, while not yet required by the FDA, the products we offer will be produced in accordance with FDA Good Manufacturing Practices. It is our singular goal to employ the pharmaceutical expertise of our management team to identify, evaluate, and supply dietary supplement products that meet the highest ethical standards.
